Abstract
eGovernment and ArcIMS Make a Perfect Match in Washtenaw County Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Kimberly Wraight In 2002 Washtenaw County developed a series of eGovernment applications that provided citizens with online access to deeds, delinquent tax reports, and other public records. Separately, the County GIS program developed an online mapping application that allowed users to access parcel geography and other cadastral layers via the internet. Each application provided benefits to the public but required users to enter multiple web sites to complete their eGovernment transactions. In an effort to implement the County's vision of an enterprisewide GIS, the County developed and launched an application that provides users with comprehensive services through a single ArcIMS software-based application. The application, MapWashtenaw, not only allows users to find and view their parcel geography but also pulls information from a number of different databases and applications to provide users with the ability to purchase a deed, delinquent tax report, or large scale map print directly from the mapping interface.
