Abstract
Fish and Wildlife Research Institute ArcIMS Applications Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Tina Udouj, Carl Westergren The Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's (FWRI) mission includes the task of providing timely information to protect, conserve, and manage Florida's fish and wildlife resources. As a state agency, FWRI must share with the public the research and products it generates. To achieve these goals, FWRI hosts a variety of Internet Map Services (IMS). FWRI uses ArcIMS to serve relevant GIS data to facilitate decision-making and research efforts across the state. Examples of the map services included are the United States Coast Guard Area Contingency Plans, Tampa Bay Estuary Program IMS, Coral and Benthic Habitats IMS, Big Cypress Basin-Estero Bay Regional Research Database Project, Florida BlueWays IMS, and Marine Resources GIS. These map services provide tools to coordinate oil spill response, evaluate temporal changes of seagrass distribution, observe underwater videos of corals, query regional water quality projects, or map manatee mortality distribution in Florida.
