Cambridge Systematics was contracted to design and build the new transportation network in an ArcSDE geodatabase environment. This presentation will describe the development of the new Roadnet geodatabase including user requirements, data model design, network features and functionality, and the linear referencing techniques being implemented to integrate the variety of transportation data. The Roadnet network is a joint MOA and State of Alaska project and is designed to comply with the Anchorage Regional ITS Architecture, support the state's ITS projects such as CARS 511 and HazMat vehicle routing, support critical Municipal functions such as public safety, and interface with the highway geodatabase being developed in State DOT.
