The objective of this project is to determine which area-based socioeconomic measures would be most appropriate for U.S. public health surveillance. The specific objective is to determine the relationship between the rate of cancer and the various indices of social and economic (SES) conditions for the study area consisting of Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
