Abstract
Hydroperiod Analysis Tools and Enhanced Time Series for Arc Hydro Track: Water Resources Author(s): Christine Carlson, David Maidment, Jack Hampson Hydroperiod, in its simplest form, is the percentage of time that a given area spends under water. Scientists working on ecosystem restoration efforts at the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) requested a tool for evaluating critical habitat hydroperiods. This information is currently provided through modeling efforts which are costly and time intensive. The hydroperiod tool meets the needs of scientists by using observed data and spatial interpolation methods to estimate floodplain inundation depths, durations, and extents. Hydroperiod restoration is fundamental to habitat restoration, and tools allowing evaluation of whether or not hydroperiod goals are being meet are essential to evaluating progress toward restoration.
