Abstract
Urban Tactical Planner Database Development for the USMA Military Reservation Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Michael Hendricks, John Brockhaus, Christopher Smith, James Anderson Urban Tactical Planner databases have been designed and developed by the United States Army Topographic Engineering Center Urban Terrain Team. Urban Tactical Planner (UTP) databases have been designed as a specialized dataset characterizing urban terrain within the constructs of a GIS. Visualization and analysis of the urban environment are key aspects of UTP GIS databases. Maps, imagery, elevation data and photographs are included with the database to give the user an overview of a city. Databases typically are divided into layers describing specific features within the urban environment. Attributes and codes for these features are based upon the NGA Feature and Attribute Coding Catalogue. This paper will describe efforts by cadets majoring in Geospatial Information Science at the USMA to develop a UTP for the military reservation at the academy. Development of this database was done in cooperation with the U.S. Army TEC and the databases will be provided to them upon completion of the project.
