Abstract
Porting SDE Databases on Microsoft SQL Server Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author(s): Nick Nydegger The ability to port and transport SDE databases opens the door for new applications and use of SDE software-based data holdings. The ability to port and move large raster and vector datasets provides the capability to respond to emergencies and catastophic events where command sites are established or moved. Preposturing of portable data can enhance our ability to quickly provide GIS resources to any location or site. The ability to develop and deploy SDE software-based raster datasets opens the door for contract data development as well as specialized applications where SDE spatial indexing and speed of data retrieval can be a huge asset. A simple method of making an SDE database portable will be demonstrated. Nick Nydegger Idaho Military Division GIS Systems, Environmental Management Office 4715 S.
