Abstract
Hydraulic Analysis Utilizing GIS for Environmental Impact Reports Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Tony Howze The Newhall Ranch project is a large master planned community located in Valencia, California, in Los Angeles County. The project contains a portion of the Santa Clara River and 20 tributaries all of which are under the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) and California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG). Working closely with these jurisdictional agencies, Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering (PACE) under the direction of Newhall Land and Farm/Lennar, developed more than 40 different bank stabilization alternatives for all the tributaries and the Santa Clara River. PACE analyzed areas of impact, floodplain adjustment, and velocity distribution that were used to create seven overall drainage plan scenarios. This presentation will discuss our methodology and strategies to supply this detailed hydraulic analysis.
