Abstract
Building an Enterprise Linear Referencing System for North Carolina Track: Transportation Author(s): John Farley, Jun Wu, Hardee Cox, Terry Norris, Chris Tilley, L.C. Smith The North Carolina Department of Transportation has long desired an enterprise linear referencing system. This desire has led to various efforts over the years without a successful implementation. To face and overcome the challenges and problems that have plagued the LRS efforts in the past, an LRS Task Force was formed. The purpose of this LRS Task Force is to clearly define the LRS Project in terms of deliverable data products, establishment of a repeatable business process and, finally, development of the ability to manage these products. This document will attempt to explain this purpose by providing an LRS model, business process, and a list of deliverables.
