Abstract
 ArcIMS and Internet Animation Track: New Technology and System Integration Author(s): Jan Bliki The European Environment Agency developed an entire ArcIMS component library for Macromedia Flash making this development environment fully compatible with ArcIMS. The free component library allows you to make powerful client applications in minutes and gives developers full freedom toward the open source library. Functionalities include among many others zooming, panning, select, query, virtual layers, insets, etc. The extra power of animation makes it easier to handle and visualize complex environmental geospatial data. Operational map services based on ArcIMS and animation tools are developed by the European Environment Agency for several applications such as the first European-wide register of industrial emissions into air and water )http://eper.eea.eu.int/), the European Nature Information System (http://eunis2.eea.eu.int/), and the European land-cover viewer (http://dataservice.eea.eu.int/clc).
