Providing Centralized Real-Time Data for Emergency Operations Center Coordination
Track: Disaster Mangagement and Emergency Response
Author(s): Bob Earle

During times of crisis, immediate and accurate data dissemination is imperative for strategic planning and disaster mitigation. Leveraging Esri's ArcIMS and ArcWeb Services technology, Sacramento County presents its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Viewer as an efficient solution for managing information flows and on-the-spot analysis in a highly charged environment. The EOC Viewer streamlines the management of vital information by integrating multiagency data sources for distribution to anyone with a desktop browser. In addition, the EOC Viewer provides the ability to dynamically add and update that data as new information becomes available. Innovative tools make possible the publication of dynamic status maps and interrogation of incident zones for quickly identifying and summarizing characteristics and counts of essential infrastructure, critical care patients, and landmarks. This unique functionality provides for real-time coordination utilizing one common data repository paramount for efficient collaboration in the saving of lives.
