Abstract
GIS Cookbook as Tool in Comprehensive Land Use Planning Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Emma Marilyn Ulep With rapid urbanization and dramatic growth of population in urban areas, the Philippines is experiencing increased pressures on its natural resources that contribute to the degradation of the urban environment. Furthermore, as the country is beset with problems such as flooding, landslides, earthquakes, and other hazards, it is important that municipalities continually update their Comprehensive Land Use Plans to be able to guide the development of the municipality in the right direction. The "GIS Cookbook for LGUs" is a guideline on how to prepare a CLUP using GIS, which can be used by local planners to be more capable of monitoring land-use changes to minimize and reduce the risks in their locality. The "Cookbook" will be a procedure on how to prepare a CLUP using GIS to make local planners more capable of preparing and updating their CLUPs.
