Abstract
An ArcGIS Server Application for Illinois Tollway Daily Lane Closures Track: Transportation Author(s): Kurt Lebo, Mike Pordes The Illinois State Tollway Highway Authority (ISTHA) has standardized its entire enterprise GIS applications on ArcGIS Server. A Lane Closure Application that helped ISTHA manage internal and external lane closure requests was created within this environment. The application provided management services for requesting, storing, visualizing, approving, and reporting lane closures. The main objective is to provide interfaces for internal and external entities with differing access levels and approval authority to apply for, review, and approve lane closure requests. Integration with the ISTHA Traffic Management Center to provide real-time information of published lane closures was implemented. Tollway personnel could spatially review sets of requested closures and other traffic-related events based on date and time periods. The application provided a spatial and tabular view of all lane closures. Being able to coordinate and more effectively review and distribute published lane closure requests helped minimized defective closures that create unwanted traffic build-up.
