Abstract
 Eye on the Future-Building a GIS for DLA Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Steve Jalbert, Robert Rogers, Paul Christensen, Jim Hopkins, Tom Marshall, Daniel Jacobs, Devin Winton, Wendy Wassa The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) catalogs, stocks and issues more than 7 million items to ensure U.S. warfighters have everything they need to complete their mission. Maps and geospatial data are included in these items. How does the warfighter find the product he/she needs and get it in a timely manner? The current answer is: the DLA Map Catalog. DLIS continues to partner with Esri to develop efficient, easy-to-use solutions to meet the ever changing needs of our customers. Starting small with ArcView 3.1 and ArcExplorer and growing to a robust ArcGIS system utilizing ArcSDE and ArcIMS, DLIS has sought to use the latest and greatest tools to bring the power of GIS into the map customer's hands. With little change in personnel, DLIS has expanded its role in DLA from providing simple map inventory shapefiles to leveraging its GIS expertise in support of its entire logistics operations.
