USAF Mission Data Layers/Sets Enabling Integration and Stewardship
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Charles Hill

The USAF HQ AFCESA (Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency) GeoBase program is implementing a comprehensive plan to geospatially enable functional communities within the USAF. These functionals may be a distinct operational community, like EOD, or a program that spans multiple functionals like the Theater Battle Management Core System Unit Level (TBMCS-UL) Command and Control system. By approaching these exercises within an enterprise environment, a scaled and scoped implementation plan is tailored from ongoing policy, guidance, and standardization. The appropriate Air staff oversight, Field Operating Agencies (FOA) leadership, and cycles of MAJCOM/Installation operational subject matter expertise are mentored to provide definitive, validated, documented, tested, relevant, and approved geospatial architectures that guarantee compliance with mission-critical requirements. These standard practices form the foundation of a sustainable and maintainable capability within the USAF while presenting uniform core architectures for standardizing integration and communication requirements across the DoD geospatial community.
