Geospatially Enabling Organizational Business Missions via Enterprise Architecture
Track: Federal Systems Implementation
Author(s): Daniel Feinberg

The DoD Business Management Modernization Program has been established to better support the DoD war fighter, enable rapid access to information for strategic decisions, reduce cost of business operations, and improve financial stewardship. The DoD has five core business missions: human resource management, weapons system life cycle management, real property and installation life cycle management, materiel supply management, and financial management. The DoD is transforming business practices and IT systems based on the DoD Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA). The DoD recognizes that geospatial resources are a key enabler of DoD business enterprise priorities. This presentation will address how geospatial resources have been incorporated into the BEA, and in turn, ensure mainstream adoption of geospatial technologies across the DoD business mission. The presentation will also address the impact of the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and FEA Geospatial Profile on the DoD enterprise architecture and adoption of geospatial technology and resources.
