Abstract
Updating ArcIMS Data Layer in a Production Environment Track: Metadata and Data Publishing Author(s): Kolade Ayorinde This paper presents lessons learned from geospatial data layer updating in a secure GIS enterprise production environment that includes ArcIMS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, Oracle8i/9i and MS Windows IIS Web server components. The challenge of accomplishing this arduous task is achieved by utilizing the appropriate GIS change management practices. The end result produces efficient and effective geospatial data that satisfies a broad spectrum of users from the technical war fighter to the environmental GIS analyst. The United States Army, Europe (USAREUR), Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) has produced an efficient and highly utilized ArcIMS site called the ITAM Mapper. The ITAM Mapper effectively distributes U.S. Army Training Area geospatial data to military personnel, land managers, planners and decision makers.
