Abstract
Kirkland, Washington: GIS Strategic Planning in a Mid-Sized City Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Xiaoning Jiang, Bryan Dickerson The City of Kirkland, Washington, completed a comprehensive GIS Strategic Plan in 2005. The GIS administrator conducted needs assessment and gap analysis. This led to a vision statement for GIS for the next five years, from which all city GIS needs were prioritized. Individual work tasks (projects) were created and had resources, schedules, and budgets assigned. The GIS administrator will present this process as a model for small- to mid-sized cities to create effective, implementable strategic plans. Key topics will be process, technology, and integration with existing city systems such as Hansen, Tidemark, and New World.
