Abstract
North Wales Water Authority Data Interoperability Methodologies and Data Maintenance Toolsets Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Chase Howse, Todd Pulsifer As all water utilities know, the interoperability of GIS data with engineering design data is crucial to meet the business requirements of the organization. Incorporating and displaying engineering data, from newer electronic CAD design drawings to various format older image files into a multiversioned SDE database, can be challenging. North Wales Water Authority, located in eastern Pennsylvania, uses a variety of interoperability and customized ArcObjects component-based solutions to ensure the seamless migration of data into and out of its SQL Server-based ArcSDE 9.1 GIS environment. NWWA also utilizes a customized ArcObjects maintenance tool developed around its unique data model to streamline manual updates when required. The tool establishes a set of business rules to reduce the potential for error and hasten the update process. This presentation will focus on those methodologies and tools used to incorporate a variety of data types into the SDE database.
