Abstract
Oakland Citywide Sidewalk Condition/ADA Inventory Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Karl Pierce, Rob Mazur The city chose CMA as prime consultant to create an inventory of the close to 1,500 miles of street centerline in this city of more than 400,000 residents. This perhaps is the first geospatial inventory of its kind. The inventory would document the type, severity and area of sidewalk damage in all nine city council districts individually and for the city as a whole. The data collected will also include statistics on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance that will aid the city's chosen consultant in preparing a PROW (Public Right-of-Way) Transition Plan for ADA purposes. The project required a complex and intensive collaborative effort between the CMA team, the city's Public Works Agency, and the city's ADA Coordinator to craft collection criteria that would meet the needs of each stakeholder. CMA utilized Esri's ArcGIS 9 Dynamic Line Segmentation for its GIS solution and ArcPad 6 as its field collection solution. Karl Pierce Concept Marine Associates, Inc.
