Abstract
Natural Disaster Personnel Tracking Tool Track: Disaster Mangagement and Emergency Response Author(s): Kemal Cakici, Jarrod Nagowski Keesler Air Force Base is a medical center located in Biloxi, Mississippi, and home to approximately 7,000 active duty Air Force personnel. Two days before landfall of Hurricane Katrina, a basewide evacuation order was given. By instruction of the Air Force Surgeon General (AFSG), IMS Government Solutions devised a way to track the movement of those personnel in the month preceding landfall via prescription transactions. By using Esri software, along with the Military Healthcare System (MHS), a visual personnel tracking tool of the continental United States was implemented to follow and locate the evacuees.
