Abstract
Collaborative Planning for an Esri Enterprise GIS: Town of Taos Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Tammie Gomez, Bryan Dickerson The town of Taos has created a five-year plan for developing an enterprise GIS based on Esri technologies (ArcSDE, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Desktop). Following the "enterprise bus" model, the town has developed a plan that will utilize GIS to its full advantages in all town departments: planning and development, public works, public utilities and even finance/utility billing. An approach based on open standards and databases, equitable funding across all departments and an ability to get the right information into the hands of the right people at the right time were seen as key to implementing this approach. This presentation will focus on how the town has developed this plan, how it will be implemented and challenges and lessons learned from the process.
