Putting GIS to Work for a Wastewater Agency
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Author(s): Lori Conro, Ryan Meyer

With a long history in GIS data and technology, the Rock River Water Reclamation District (RRWRD) in Rockford, Illinois, is now finding ways to leverage its investment in GIS in support of its core business needs. In addition to using ArcGIS as its primary tool for tracking locations and attributes of its infrastructure, RRWRD is using GIS to disseminate information to all levels of the organization via an innovative ArcIMS site. The site currently provides a full suite of tools including feature-level access to scanned engineering drawings of RRWRD infrastructure and can be easily modified by RRWRD employees to provide linkages to other file types (pictures, videos, documents) or other databases in the enterprise.
