Battlefield Intelligence Visualization Using C/JMTK
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Travis Miller

This paper presents the Joint Visualization System (JVS) research and development project that demonstrates the use of C/JMTK to visualize military intelligence (MI) data from disparate data sources within the Army Battlefield Command System (ABCS). Many of the existing ABCS systems provide visualization capabilities, but none provide a completely integrated red-and-blue picture showing MI data from all available systems. In JVS, all data is accessed through a distributed data server capable of pulling data from many MI data sources such as ASAS, AFATDS, IOS, FBCB2, and MCS. The JVS client supports 2D and 3D visualization through a custom extension available in ArcMap and ArcGlobe. The client consumes point, raster, and vector data from JVS Web services and displays the appropriate 2525B symbology using the Military Overlay Editor (MOLE). The client is also capable of visualizing and editing Magic (MGC) overlays available from various systems within the ABCS.
