Abstract
USMC Enterprise GIS--MCB Hawaii Implementation Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Richard Cassidy, Jason Thacker GeoFidelis is the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Installation Geospatial program. The GeoFidelis program office published Geospatial Operations and Procedures, which details the USMC Campaign Plan goals of Organizational Partnership, Data Foundation, and Organizational Effectiveness through the different roles and responsibilities regarding geospatial information systems (GIS) in the Marine Corps. Marine Corps Base Hawaii was chosen as the first installation to implement these goals in an effort to revive and sustain its ailing GIS program while at the same time test the effectiveness of the GeoFidelis program. Headquarters Marine Corps provided the installation with Esri geospatial applications, data analysis and program management support to help overcome communication and technological barriers and ensure the long-term sustainability of the geospatial program. In less than one year Marine Corps Base Hawaii was transformed into a fully functional, regional geospatial data center.
