Taking GIS Data and Maps to Design and Publishing
Track: Cartography and Map Production
Author(s): Catherine Moody

This paper outlines the process of using GIS data as a base for print production maps that go to publishers. The primary example profiles the city of Prescott's process for publishing a local bike map. It covers techniques on how to prepare GIS data for eventual export into desktop publishing software, useful tools to make this job easier, how to enhance the quality of your final production map, and taking information back into GIS that's been added as part of the publishing process.
