Geodatabase Conversion - Challenges, Pitfalls, and Successes

Monroe County, NY (Rochester) recently underwent a major organizational change in the way they handle their tax mapping. For many years the County has been a workstation ArcInfo and coverage data user performing all their edits & map generation in a customized environment. In the fall of 2004 a major undertaking was put into motion to convert the County to an "out of the box" ArcGIS and geodatabase solution. Learn about the reasons for moving to the latest Esri technology, the growing pains that occurred along the way and the successes of this challenging conversion process.
