Abstract
Tale of Two Missouri Municipal GIS, Branson and Cape Girardeau Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Curtis Copeland, Rich Daume Over the past 8 years, two municipalities, one in southeast Missouri and one in southwest Missouri, have been developing geographic information systems to meet the needs of their city departments and their communities. This presentation will take an in-depth look at the similarities and differences with respect to the approach of data acquisition and modeling to attain each organization's current GIS program. Even though there are similarities in size and population, there are geographical, cultural, financial, political, and development time issues that are specific to each entity and, therefore, have influenced the development of each municipal GIS.
