Abstract
Corporate GIS in PETROM, Romania Track: Petroleum and Pipeline Transmission Author(s): Manuel Vais, Ionut Stoian, Marian Nedelcu Romania, the largest gas and oil producer in Southeastern Europe (275 tons of crude oil since 1857) has intensively invested in IT since 1990, continuosly modernizing its software and hardware. PETROM, a member of OMV Group, Austria since 2004, is an integrated oil company that annually produces about 6 million tons of crude oil and about 6 billion m3 of natural gas from onshore and offshore operations. Petrom operates two refineries and has a distribution network (more than 600 filling stations) in Romania, Hungary and Yugoslavia. International E&P activities are taking place in Kazakhstan. In this paper we present the implementation and use of Esri ArcView/ArcSDE in PETROM. The initial focus of the GIS is on E&P upstream activities and HSEQ aspects.
