Abstract
Using Esri's PLTS and Customized Extension for FEMA Map Production Track: Federal Systems Implementation Author(s): Katie Field, Chris Taylor The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides an online map production environment to assist its contractors in the creation of flood maps. This environment extensively utilizes components of Esri's Production Line Tool Set (PLTS) including Job Tracking Extension (JTX) and GIS Data ReViewer. JTX provides version control, workflow management, and project tracking. As the primary QC review mechanism, GIS Data ReViewer employs hundreds of customized conditional QC checks, which range from attribute validation to spatial interaction, to ensure that the data and map product created within the system is accurate and FEMA compliant. GIS Data ReViewer is also utilized to standardize feature symbology. In addition to PLTS components, a customized ArcMap extension uses the data and user input parameters to automate the creation of a flood map product that meets FEMA's specifications and guidelines. This system reduces production time, promotes solidarity through a single system, and ensures data integrity.
