Abstract
 Sharing GIS Resources: A Regional Approach for the Meadowlands Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Dom Elefante, Eric Yadlovski, Francisco Artigas, Alex Marti, Arfaa Mujeeb The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) (a state planning agency for the Meadowlands District of New Jersey) has been transferring GIS data, technology and training to 14 participating municipalities under a statewide regionalization directive to lower costs by sharing resources. Along these lines, the NJMC has undertaken the task of funding and developing a startup GIS for its constituent municipalities. An integral component is a customized portal that serves data to these municipalities. Under this program, NJMC GIS staff create, maintain and serve core datasets for municipal use. These datasets include land records ranging from parcel data to assessment information. Currently, nine municipalities have been completed and are operational. The paper will center on how these municipalities update, access and use their GIS data and capabilities in the context of this program.
