Abstract
Distributing GIS Functionality, Data, and Services to the Coast Guard Track: Homeland Security/Homeland Defense Author(s): Mike Lakey Providing GIS data, services, and functionality to United States Coast Guard GIS users is critical in supporting the various missions of the Coast Guard, which include marine safety, port security, and law enforcement on U.S. waters. To help support these missions, the Coast Guard Enterprise GIS Team has created a model for distributing core GIS data and client functionality to its users via the Coast Guard intranet. This presentation will discuss how the Enterprise GIS Team developed a GIS data warehouse and a Web-enabled thin client application as well as how the Coast Guard is using various data and map services to distribute GIS data to a wide variety of GIS applications and users.
