GIS in the National Park Service Fire Program
Track: Parks and Natural Reserves
Author(s): Ed Delaney

The NPS Fire Program has a long history of actively integrating GIS into important aspects of business in operations, planning, and decision making from the fire line to the national office. NPS Fire is an active consumer of GIS and GPS technologies and is a significant producer of geospatial data relevant to NPS natural resource, planning, and operations. This paper presents an overview of the role of GIS in Fire Program decision support and the use of GIS in integrating NPS Fire activities in the interagency environment.
