Abstract
Developing a Geospatial Support Task Force (GSTF) System Track: Disaster Mangagement and Emergency Response Author(s): Ronald Langhelm In the past, on-site geospatial resources have not been immediately available for disaster response operations. To ensure the early integration of geospatial technology into major disaster operations, FEMA has initiated a Geospatial Support Task Force (GSTF) pilot project. One GSTF will be available in early fall of 2006, providing critical intelligence to federal and state incident response activities. The GSTF will integrate geospatial technology into both the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). This presentation will define the GSTF concept, referencing past disaster experiences, lessons learned, and the benefits of such a system.
