Abstract
Using the National Integrated Land System for Effective Land Management Track: Cadastral and Land Records Author(s): Leslie Cone The National Integrated Land System (NILS) project was developed to provide a bridge to share land and mineral land record information within the government and private sectors. NILS has been developed in four modules--all of which will be discussed here, but an emphasis will be given to the publication Web site module, GeoCommunicator, which allows for the distribution and access of spatial data from the NILS transaction application modules. GeoCommunicator provides searching, accessing, and dynamic mapping of data for Federal Surface Management boundaries, Mining Claims, Land and Mineral Use Records, and the Public Land Survey System data. The Web site is located at http://www.geocommunicator.gov, and can, among other things, be utilized for community planning, parcel development and e-government planning and implementation. A live demonstration will highlight some of the more recently added information including oil and gas stipulations, geothermal cases, coal and potash leasing, and range allotment and pastures.
