Abstract
FalconView Migration to C/JMTK Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Chris Bailey Military mission planning relies heavily on the use of maps and map-related information. As the mission planning process moved to a digital environment, war fighters required an easy-to-use and focused application for visualizing standard digital geospatial products and other relevant data. Originally produced for aviation mission planning as part of Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS), FalconViewT has come into widespread use across the Department of Defense to fulfill this requirement. FalconView is a nonproprietary government off-the-shelf application for displaying and analyzing geographic data crucial to the war fighter. As part of the enhancements for FalconView 4.1, Georgia Tech Research Institute is integrating Esri technology from the Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (C/JMTK) into FalconView. ArcGIS components are being used to allow FalconView users to display data from both geodatabases and finished ArcMap (.mxd) files in the same context as other information used by the war fighter such as aeronautical routes, navigation information, and threat information.
