Abstract
Moving to a Spatial Computer Dispatch (CAD) Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Author(s): Roger Forshee The Harris County Sheriffs Office (HCSO) is the third largest Sheriffs department in the country. As the department moves forward effective emergency dispatching and efficient allocation of time and assets is critical. To meet this need the HCSO is moving to a spatial Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. A CAD system to meet the demands of a modern and integrated emergency response, records, and asset management system. Moving from a legacy tabular system to a spatial CAD system is not without headaches, heartburn, and hiccups. Come learn how to avoid some of the pitfalls and learn some lessons of what to do and not do of moving from a tabular CAD to a spatial dispatching system.
