Abstract
On-line Digitizing Technology for Road Resurfacing Program Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Jian Chen The local governments in Georgia usually submitted the road resurfacing requests by drawing on paper maps and mail. We developed a technology on GIS Server to allow users to digitize on web to tell us which road need resurfaced and where the project should start and end. As an authorized user logs in, a map is zoomed to the county/city level and the requests submitted by the government are listed in ascend order. Each request can be located geographically and listed in details. As a user digitizing, the request is saved as a line feature in a SDE database which can be shown and queried on GIS Web applications. A picture of the map is generated on the host computer each time a request is submitted. The feature attributes on road name, route ID, congress district, start and end street names are automatically populated.
