GIS ROI at Washington County, MN: Looking Back and Forward Track: Benefit of GIS Author(s): David Brandt Since 1989, Washington County, MN has been utilizing GIS technology to improve business process. While the benefits of automated mapping were well understood, there has been much more done with GIS than could have been dreamed of at the time. In looking to expand the use of GIS, we have reviewed where we came from, and examined how the technology has changed the organization. While it has saved thousands of hours of staff time, it has also allowed for workflow process change. Through the years, we have realized many quantitative and qualitative benefits.
