Using GIS to Support the Mission of Zoos
Track: Architecture, Engineering, and Construction
Author(s): Christopher Overdorf

Zoological institutions are beginning to embrace the power of GIS as a tool to better support their mission of conservation education and protecting natural habitats. From management of their infrastructure to supporting their maintenance programs to better planning and design of their facilities through custom GIS-based design models, zoos are beginning to push GIS in new directions. The purpose of this panel presentation is to identify how zoos are leveraging GIS to improve our natural world and how poeple learn about it.
