Abstract
Geospatial Planning for Wild Bill's Wildlife Tours Track: Benefit of GIS Author(s): Mike Cossey Wildlife nature tours are becoming very popular with a wide variety of individuals and groups. Tour operators are challenged with designing itineraries that are to be adapted to the varied needs of groups ranging from the extreme adventurer to the physically handicapped. The GIS used by Wild Bill's Wildlife Tours was upgraded from a system that showed paved roads to one showing an integration of roads, off-road vehicular trails, and footpaths. The expanded routes were augmented with terrain elevation, water hazards, and climatic overlays which would facilitate seasonal planning. The enhanced GIS enabled tour planners to tailor an expedition based on customer ability, desires, and mode of transport. Mike Cossey University of Redlands MSGIS 1111 E.
