Army IGI&S Application Functionality: Future Developments
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Julie Carter

The Army Installation Geographic Information and Services program encompasses a collection of systems which serve the Army community. Currently, the IGI&S provides basic and customized GIS capability to the Army community through the Army Mapper, which contains geographic data representing Army installations worldwide in addition to tools for querying and editing the data. The next phase of development for the Army Mapper includes several Web-based tools for data manipulation including data creation, validation, and submission. Other tools will include metadata creation and downloading of geospatial data. This presentation includes discussion about each of the tools for future implementation in the Army Mapper, their purpose, and associated advantages, and challenges faced during development and implementation.
