Abstract
The Integration and Analysis of Vietnam War MIA Case Information Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Eric Richardson For his Major Individual Project at the University of Redlands and to assist Joint Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Accounting command (JPAC) personnel in finding Missing in Action (MIA) personnel, this University of Redlands MSGIS student integrated JPAC databases into a personnel geodatabase and common coordinate system for MIA cases associated with the Vietnam War. In addition, spatial analysis models were created and employed to measure spatial consistency of two MIA databases, and ascertained which uncorrelated records (field activity records not assigned case numbers) are in close proximity to field activity records associated with losses from air crashes. Finally, Military Overlay Editor and Tracking Analyst were used to simulate the Ia Drang and Operation Cedar Falls battles as prototypes for visualizing historical battle information associated with previous wars. This paper is a presentation of the methodologies and results from the analyses and prototypes developed and employed for this project. Eric Richardson NGA 1111 E.
