Abstract
GIS for Community Health Management in Tugi Track: Health and Human Services Author(s): Ntsacom Christabel Access to medical facilities by rural communities is restricted by road network .The location of community health centers are sometimes chosen without an appropriate study of the distribution of beneficiary settlements. Certain geographic parameters must be considered before the construction of community health centers. In many situations, the choice of community health centers sites in such a position that will satisfy all the inhabitants of an area must be made after a study of the population distribution, topography and security. Remote sensing and Geographic Information systems are important in the positioning of community health posts. This paper will discuss the need of health centers and their possible locations in Njikwa sub division so as to meet the medical needs of the local community. In this case diseases can easily be tackled from contaminating a wider population if it has already been detected in one of the health posts. A topographic map and a satellite image of the study area will be used.
