Abstract
Geospatial Environmental Information Sharing in Utah Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Bert Granberg GIS utilizes location as the foundation for integrating information that might otherwise never come together. With a very diverse group of agencies, at several levels of government, responsible for collecting data and administering programs relating to environmental protection, GIS is a natural strategy for cooperative, integrated efforts. This presentation will focus on the The Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center's (AGRC) efforts to foster greater geospatial data sharing through a US EPA National Environmental Information Exchange Network (NEIEN) grant. Topics to be addressed include: designing a new underground injection control ground water protection database using Visio UML modeling and ArcCatalog's CASE tools; geospatially enabling a drinking water source protection database; enhanced GIS data sharing efforts within the Utah Department of Environmenal Quality; and the transfer of data from an ArcSDE/SQL server database to trading partners via the NEIEN.
