Abstract
Leveraging Microsoft Access and Geodatabase for UXO Collection Track: Benefit of GIS Author(s): Tanya Morse The use of the Esri Geodatabase has played a major role in the integrity and accuracy of UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) data collection. Consequently, its ability to be viewed in ArcView as shapefiles or Microsoft Access as tabular data further demonstrates its flexibility and adaptability as a powerful tool in terms of the processing and manipulation of field data. The use of Microsoft Access 2003 provides a reliable quality control element to the data in addition to the complex queries, customized data entry forms and daily collection reports that can be created. Reports are readily available to be sent back to the field and reviewed for quality assurance, all within a 24 hour turnaround time frame. This important feature ensures that the data is consistently maintained in a "ready to submit" state with the efficiency of no more than a one-day lag from field collection to data incorporation.
