Abstract
Putting New Jersey on The National Map Track: Spatial Data Infrastructure Author(s): Andrew Rowan In cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the New Jersey Office of Information Technology, Office of GIS (NJOIT-OGIS) is emerging as a significant contributing partner to The National Map (TNM). NJOIT-OGIS is working with USGS to develop, host, and maintain Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant Web map services for statewide Elevation, Hydrography, Transportation, Boundaries, and Land Cover datasets. Other State agencies involved in this effort include the NJ Departments of Environmental Protection and Transportation. With 2006 National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Cooperative Agreement Program (CAP) funding, NJOIT-OGIS has been able to increase the State's enterprise data storage infrastructure and to expand its existing Web-based operational capabilities and service-oriented architecture (SOA). The goal of this presentation is to review how USGS and NJOIT-OGIS have leveraged investments in enterprise geospatial data and web mapping technologies in support of the NSDI and The National Map.
