Abstract
Spatial Data Warehousing and Mapped Business Intelligence for Telecommunications Track: Telecommunications and Location-Based Services Author(s): Dustin Montoya A data warehouse is a repository of an organization's data assets optimized to support various activities such as reporting, analysis, and decision-making. Although the vast majority of a Fortune 500 company's data is associated with some type of spatial component (e.g, an address, ZIP Code, or sales territory), most large businesses store and manage their spatial data and traditional RDBMS data separately. The resulting dual architecture significantly reduces the benefits that can be derived from an integrated spatial data warehouse. This paper describes one telecommunication company's end-to-end experience in GIS-enabling a Teradata Data Warehouse. More specifically, this paper shows how various disparate sources of data can be Extracted, Transformed, and Loaded (ETL) into a spatially-enabled Teradata environment using Informatica and Safe Software's FME. Finally, solutions are provided to integrate self-service ArcIMS mapping and Hyperion reporting. Dustin Montoya Echostar Information Technologies 9601 S.
