Horry County, SC Prepared for Emergencies through CMMS
Track: Disaster Management and Emergency Response
Author(s): Tim Oliver, Jim Kiles

A key element of threat analysis, preparedness, and response capability is the management of information, particularly when there are so many departments and jurisdictions involved. And because most of the critical information is geographically based, GIS now plays a crucial role in preparing for and responding to widespread emergencies when it is tied to a state-of-the-art CMMS. A general acknowledgment of the need for an improved state of preparedness has made geographic data development a priority for many. Attendees will learn how a wide variety of information can be clearly transmitted to the appropriate parties and tracked for effect. This presentation will demonstrate the integration of more accurate localized data using integrated ArcGIS and CMMS to manage daily operations as well as effectively track the work performed to prepare for and respond to disasters using Horry County (Myrtle Beach), SC as an example.
