Developing ArcGIS Server Enterprise Applications in Greeley, Colorado
Track: State and Local Government
Author(s): Brian Sullivan, Bryan Dickerson

The City of Greeley, Colorado has created a long-term Information Technology (IT) plan to create an enterprise IT environment that utilizes GIS and Esri technologies (ArcGIS Server) as core services. The comprehensive assessment allowed the City to objectively evaluate resource distribution against productivity and perceived customer service. The plan signifies a paradigm shift in City services by moving from traditionally isolated departmental services to enterprise data sharing. By consolidating and sharing resources the City is maximizing and standardizing information technology for all departments. GIS is leading the way through development and implementation of critical core processes that will allow staff in departments such as utility billing, public works, utilities, community development, and recreation to access shared databases through enterprise applications. This presentation will focus on how the City developed this plan, how the plan will be implemented and key challenges and lessons learned from this city-wide activity.
